The Moon 4g network Germany and Nokia confirmed they will create the first 4G network on the moon. The network will go live by 2019.
Vodafone Germany, network equipment maker Nokia and carmaker Audi said on Tuesday they were working together to support the mission, 50 years after the first Nasa astronauts walked on the moon.
Berlin-based company, PTScientists is working with Vodafone Germany and Audi to achieve the first privately-funded Moon landing. Mission to the Moon is due to launch in 2019 from Cape Canaveral on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Vodafone engineers will then build the energy-efficient network using Nokia’s hardware to enable Audi-made lunar Quattro rovers to transmit data and high-definition (HD) footage back to its base station on Earth for monitoring.
Dr Hannes Ametsreiter (Vodafone Germany CEO), said: This project involves a radically innovative approach to the development of mobile network infrastructure. It is also a great example of an independent, multi-skilled team achieving an objective of immense significance through their courage, pioneering spirit and inventiveness.
The advantages of having a 4G network on the Moon include the following:
The ability to connect in real-time with mission control on Earth and with other astronauts using high-definition video and audio will improve communication and teamwork. Collaboration and decision-making will improve as a result.
A 4G network will allow for real-time data collection and transmission from scientific devices on the Moon, enhancing research capabilities. They will be able to discover new things more rapidly and effectively as a result.
Enhanced security: The 4G network will give astronauts a method to contact rescuers in case of an emergency. Additionally, it will enable mission control to continuously keep an eye on the astronauts’ well-being and security.
Well, it is not too far away, the mission is scheduled to launch next year from Cape Canaveral on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
